Self-selected body condition scores can be inaccurate. Have your veterinarian confirm the score and any target weight, especially if weight or appetite changes unexpectedly.
KEEP EXPLORING
THE SATELLAI WEIGHT GUIDE
Dog weight, explained.
Six focused guides. Find the answer you need, then take the next step.
A breed average can't tell the whole story. Frame, muscle and individual build all matter. This check uses your observations to place your dog on the 9-point body condition scale.
No. Dogs of the same breed may have different builds. Body condition adds observations of fat cover and body shape. A veterinarian can also assess muscle and health.
How is this result calculated?
Your selected body condition score determines the category: 1–3 underweight, 4–5 ideal, 6–7 overweight and 8–9 obese. Weight alone does not set the category. If you enter a vet-set target, we calculate (current weight − target weight) ÷ target weight × 100. That comparison is separate from the body condition result.
Will this tell me exactly what my dog should weigh?
No. This tool does not invent a target from breed averages or a self-selected score. Your veterinarian can set an individual target after checking body condition, muscle, life stage and health.
Can I use this for a puppy or a pregnant dog?
This tool is designed for fully grown dogs. Growing puppies and pregnant or nursing dogs need a tailored veterinary assessment.
Does SATELLAI store my dog's details?
No. This tool processes form entries in your browser. Your entries are not sent to a server or saved after you close or reload the page.
